Dons take the plunge

Aberdeen, 12:55, July 3, 2009 ,

New Aberdeen boss Mark McGhee admits he is pleased with the way his payers have responded to a tough beginning to pre-season.

The former Motherwell boss is well known for putting players through their paces to make sure they are up to scratch ahead of a new season and it was no different when the players reported back this week.
The former Leicester and Wolves boss opened up pre-season training with a double session, before taking his players for a dip in the North Sea, and he has been pleased with the work his new charges have put in.
"Their attitude has been good," he said. "We had them doing a double session on Wednesday then let them off with just one session on Thursday because we worked them so hard.
"I took them down to the beach and got them to go into the sea to cool down their legs.
"We have arranged a bounce game next Saturday before we go to Austria for our training camp."
