Zander Diamond admits several Aberdeen players where still struggling with the effects of flu during Saturday's defeat to Hamilton.
The 23-year-old was one of a number of players sent home from training last week and and the Dons were missing seven players through illness and injury for the clash at New Douglas Park.
Diamond says the illness is no excuse for the performance but admits that some of the squad felt under the weather.
Speaking to the Press and Journal, the defender said: "We had our plans scuppered, we had to call on a lot of youngsters to go on the bench, so it was not ideal.
"We have had a stop-start week but we had a game plan, so it is no excuse. For some reason they got on top of us and we did not deal with it.
"All over the pitch we were second to the ball. The decisions went against us."
