Craig Lindfield has backed Accrington's young crop of players to make the grade in npower League Two, despite a difficult start to their professional careers.
Teenagers Liam Willis and Kurtis Guthrie were included in the Stanley starting line-up in the 4-1 defeat to Cheltenham at Whaddon Road on Saturday - but despite the result Lindfield insisted he was impressed by the performances of the youngsters.
And the 23-year-old believes the younger element of the Reds set-up will have the chance to blossom under manager Paul Cook.
"There's a lot of young lads and they're all learning," he told BBC Radio Lancashire. "There are a lot on loan and they're all trying to win contracts.
"There's people trying to learn out there but it's a league game and it's a tough league to play in - but it'll come with experience.
"There were some good performances out there. I thought Liam Willis did really well in his first league game because (Cheltenham striker) Ben Burgess was a handful."
