Arsenal target Argentine youngster

Arsenal, 13:02, May 14, 2009 ,

Arsenal are to offer a trial to Argentine goalkeeper Damian Martinez with a £1.3million deal thought to be place should he impress.

The 16-year-old currently plays for Argentinian side Independiente but will spend a week at Arsenal's training ground as he looks to seal a move to the Premier League.
Wenger is reportedly on the lookout for a new keeper, after current nuimber two Lukasz Fabianski failed to impress when deputising for the injured Manuel Almunia, and has targeted the Argentina Under-17 international goalkeeper.
"When I was told that I was going to have a trail at Arsenal I thought that someone was joking," Martinez told Radio Rivadavia.
"In fact, I thought that they were talking about Arsenal de Sarandi, the team called like that but that plays in Argentina."
