Arsenal's hopes of signing Clint Dempsey have been given a boost after he admitted he'd like to play in the Champions League.

Dempsey has just one year remaining on his current deal and Fulham could well be tempted to cash in on the USA international rather than see him leave as a free agent in 2013.
The 29-year-old enjoyed a hugely successful campaign in the Premier League last season with 23 goals from midfield and his performances have not gone unnoticed, with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believed to be keen to bring Dempsey to the Emirates.
Dempsey, who joined Fulham in 2007, admits he is keen to test himself in the Champions League, and indicated he could be prepared to depart Craven Cottage this summer.
"The transfer window is open until August 31," Dempsey told London24. "It's no secret that I would like to play Champions League one day in my career.
"It it's meant to be, it will be."
