Newcastle United defender Sebastien Bassong claims Arsenal have made an approach but are yet to make a formal bid for his services.
The 22-year-old looks set to depart St James' Park this summer following their relegation to the Championship and claims Arsenal are one of the clubs vying for his signature.
However, the French-born Cameroonian admits that he plans to leave the Magpies but the club are yet to receive any offers for his signature.
"I can confirm there was an approach, but for now nothing is concrete," Bassong told the Daily Mail when asked if Arsenal had lodged a bid.
"Premier League clubs are interested in me, but nothing is simple because Newcastle are in the middle of a takeover and nobody knows who will be the manager.
"Foreign clubs inquired, but as it is my priority to stay in England, I didn't respond. Obviously, it would be better if things gathered pace, but I'm not worried."
If Arsene Wenger makes a move for Bassong or any other player we will let you know with out new
