City ready to hijack RVP talks
Manchester City are ready to offer £20million for Robin van Persie as the player plans to hold talks with Arsenal this week.
Now the season is over Van Persie will sit down and discuss signing a new deal with the club, but that will not stop City making an approach and they are ready to make an opening bid of £20million. The Gunners are desperate to keep hold and there have been suggestions Arsene Wenger may let the player run down his contract if a new deal cannot be agreed. The £20million would be tempting though and so would the kind of wages on offer to Van Persie, even though he has just bought a new house in London and seemed settled. Fuel was added to the fire when his agent was spotted at the Etihad Stadium, but Kees Vos says that the visit had nothing to do with the Gunners striker. "We're keeping our negotiations confidential," he revealed. "I have been to a lot of Premier League games this season ? including City ones. I watch a lot of players ? my life does not revolve around Robin van Persie."
