Fabregas to delay Barca move
Arsenal, 14:45, July 25, 2010 ,
Cesc Fabregas has decided to stay at Arsenal for another season, according to Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta.
The Spanish champions have made no secret of their desire to sign him this summer, but failed with a £29 million bid for the Gunners captain.
Barca players in Spain's World Cup-winning squad spent time trying to persuade Fabregas to return to the club where he began his career and have also used the press to call for the 23-year-old to move.
However, it appears their efforts have failed - at least for now with a switch to the Nou Camp almost certain next summer.
Iniesta told the News of the World that Fabregas is happy to remain with Arsenal for the 2010-11 season.
"Cesc wants to be with us, but he told me how close the Arsenal fans are to his heart," said the man who scored the only goal of the World Cup final.
He added: "Cesc is such a special player that he could carry a team to the title on his own and I hope he does it this coming season.
"It would be brilliant if Arsenal's hero could lift the title as captain during his last season."
