Arsenal could have a fight on their hands to complete the signing of Olivier Giroud after Borussia Monchengladbach entered the race.
The Gunners are thought to have all but tied up a deal for the French striker and are set to complete the signing before the end of the month after reportedly agreeing a £12million fee with Montpellier.
Having topped the Ligue 1 scoring charts with 21 goals last season there is plenty of interest in the 25-year-old from across Europe.
German club Monchengladbach have now registered an interest in the hitman as they look to strengthen their squad after qualifying for the Champions League last season.
The club's sporting director Max Eberl says Gladbach are poised to make a move for Giroud but admits Arsenal are still the favourites for his signature.
"We remain true to our policy that we do not throw our money out the window. The problem in our negotiations is that we are in competition with clubs like Arsenal and top clubs in Germany," Eberl said.
