Gunners back in title race - Wenger
Arsenal, 10:00, December 14, 2009 ,
Arsene Wenger says Arsenal are back in the title race following the win at Liverpool but admits there is still a long way to go.
The Gunners fought back from 1-0 down to win 2-1 at Anfield on Sunday and after both Manchester United and Chelsea dropped points on Saturday, Wenger knew it was a game they had to win.
The victory moved Arsenal back into third, six points behind leaders Chelsea, but they do have a game in hand and Wenger says the title race is back on track.
"For us, we are back into contention following the results from Saturday," Wenger revealed. "We are in a good position with a game in hand and mentally it was a massive game for us.
"With what happened on Saturday (to our rivals) we knew we needed to win at Anfield. We did that, now it is down to consistency. The team who wins this title will be the one who is the most consistent, and nobody has done that yet.
"It is more than a three horse race, there is Aston Villa, Manchester City and Spurs. There is a long way to go."
