Gunners duo start recovery

Arsenal, 05:36, December 4, 2009

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says Robin van Persie's ankle operation went 'very well', while Kieran Gibbs is also on the way back.

Van Persie is facing at least four months on the sidelines after damaging his ankle playing for Holland last month but he can now start his recovery after undergoing a successful operation.
"I have not talked to Robin yet but there again the news I got from the surgery was it went very, very well," Wenger told the club's website. "There was a lot of disturbance on our side recently (about his injury) but the surgery went well."
Meanwhile Wenger has also revealed that he hopes to have Gibbs back in action sooner rather than later after the player had surgery to cure his foot problem.
"Kieran is doing very well," Wenger added. "I had him on the phone and it looked to be completely fine."
