Gunners need lift - Jenkinson

Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson believes victory over Liverpool at Anfield would lend credibility to the Gunners' title aspirations.

Goalless draws against Sunderland and Stoke have seen Arsene Wenger's side make a solid, if uninspiring, start to the campaign. The fixture against Liverpool launches a busy September for Arsenal, who also face title-chasing Chelsea and Manchester City and their opening Champions League match against French champions Montpellier.
The Gunners have not lost at Anfield for four years and Jenkinson insists three points on Sunday could ignite their season.
"Anfield is always a great place to play football, we're all looking forward to it and we're going for the three points," the right-back told Arsenal Player. "I was only on the bench last year, but the atmosphere and the stadium itself make it a special place.
"Liverpool are an ambitious club, and I am sure they will not sit back at Anfield looking to take a point. Hopefully it will be an open game and maybe that will be of benefit to us because it will open things up a bit.
"It would be a huge statement of intent to win there. Liverpool are a big club but we are just focused on our own game, and hopefully we will execute as we need to and get the three points."
