Gunners wary of Walcott interest

Arsenal are hoping to tie Theo Walcott down to a new deal as Chelsea keep an eye on his contract situation.

Walcott has just over 12 months to run on his current contract and just like with Robin van Persie they are keen to secure his future as soon as possible.
Chelsea are being strongly linked with a move and according to reports Arsenal fear Roman Abramovich could be ready to continue his spending spree by making a move.
Walcott would be free to talk to other clubs in January but Arsene Wenger is keen to end the speculation by getting the winger tied down to a new long-term deal.
Arsenal have been slow to offer the player new terms but could now step it up after learning of Chelsea's interest in the winger.
