Midfielder signing hopes alive

Arsenal, 17:14, July 8, 2009 ,

Arsenal are still in with a shout of landing Felipe Melo after Juventus claimed his move from Fiorentina had not been completed.

The Gunners have been strongly linked with a move for the Brazilian star but Juve are leading the race to sign him after agreeing to pay the Florence outfit £21million.
It looked as though a move had been completed but Juve officials insist there is still someway to go and that could leave the door open for Arsene Wenger.
"Melo is not yet a Juve player," said Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli to Gazzetta dello Sport. "The negotiations are still ongoing. "We still need to define certain terms to officially confirm his signing."
