Robin van Persie is no nearer to getting his wish of a move away from Arsenal after Manchester United refused to pay £20million.

The Gunners have reluctantly agreed to cash in on the player but will only let him go at the right price and so far nobody has matched the £20million they are after. United are hot favourites to do a deal but Sir Alex Ferguson is reluctant to pay that much for a player who will be available on a free transfer in 12 months. The Reds are thought to have offered £15million but Arsene Wenger would rather keep him on board and risk losing him for nothing than sell at that kind of price. There is still plenty of time for a deal to be hammered out but unless United raise their offer it looks as though the Dutchman will be staying at the Emirates for another season. Juventus and Manchester City are also keen but like United will not pay that much, especially as the player is also looking for £200,000 a week.
