Shock swap mooted

Arsenal, 15:05, July 7, 2009 ,

Fiorentina have admitted they would be willing to swap Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo for Arsenal full-back Emmanuel Eboue.

The Gunners hopes of landing the player looked to have been dashed last week when he signed a new one-year deal with the Serie A club, while midfielder only yesterday insisted he wants to stay in Florence.
However, Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has now claimed that Arsene Wenger is trying to get in touch over a swap deal and has hinted they could be ready to do business.
"Arsenal manager (Arsene) Wenger wants to talk to me," Corvino told Gazzetta dello Sport. "I have no objection also because Eboue seems a valid swap."
Eboue would no doubt jump at the chance of a move after becoming frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities at the Emirates Stadium.
