Song urged to join Barca
Gerard Pique has urged Alexandre Song to join him at Barcelona as he believes the Arsenal midfielder would fit in perfectly.
Barca have made the Cameroon international one of their top targets this summer according to reports in the Spanish media, although as of yet no official bid has been made for his services.
Pique would certainly welcome his arrival at the Nou Camp as the Spanish international is convinced Song has all the attributes required to be a big hit with the Catalan giants under new coach Tito Vilanova.
The centre-back told El Mundo Deportivo: "I have followed his career and he has become a very good player.
"He is physically very strong and is good with the ball at his feet."
Song wouldn't be guaranteed a place in the Barca midfield with experienced campaigner Sergio Busquets undeniably one of his chief rivals for a shirt in the holding role if he was to sign.
However, Pique is adamant that a squad aiming to challenge for honours, can never have too many good players in each position.
He added: "We are open to his arrival. If he comes, and from what I have read he could do, we would love to have him."
