Villa pleads for Fabregas move

Arsenal, 09:01, July 23, 2010 ,

Spanish World Cup winner David Villa has insisted he is desperate for Cesc Fabregas to join him at Barcelona this season.

The Arsenal captain has been heavily linked during the close season with a return to the Nou Camp to the club where he started his career and Barcelona had an offer of around £25million for the midfielder rejected earlier this summer.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is desperate to keep hold of the 23-year for at least one more season but Villa has revealed he will do everything in his power to get his Spanish team-mate to Barcelona.
Villa himself completed a big-money move to the Spanish champions from Valencia in the summer and told The Sun: "I am not the Barcelona coach, nor the person responsible for reinforcements, but personally I will do the maximum to get Cesc here.
"He wants to play here and it will be quite normal if Arsenal finally do a deal.
"That would be great. A player of his ability will only increase our power and his presence will be great for all the forwards.
"He'll help Xavi and (Andres) Iniesta, and I'll score more goals with him in the side."
