Arsene Wenger says Theo Walcott is not 'obsessed by money' and is hopeful the player will sign a new deal with Arsenal.
The winger has just 12 months to run on his current contract but has yet to agree a new one amid rumours he has turned down terms of £75,000 a week.
Reports claim he wants a long-term contract worth £100,000 a week, but Wenger has played down such speculation and says the player is happy at the Emirates Stadium.
"Theo has one year to go. We want to extend his contract. I think Theo loves the club," he said ahead of the trip to Liverpool. "He is not obsessed by money, there is just a little difference [in the negotiations]."
Walcott has been linked with a move away from the club before tomorrow's deadline but barring a dramatic late turn in events, he will be staying with the Gunners until January at least.
