Wenger eyes former star
Patrick Viera is set to snub Spurs and make a shock return to Arsenal following a difficult time at Inter Milan.
The French midfielder is desperate to leave the Italian giants in search of first team football to secure a place in the France squad for the World Cup in South Africa.
It had been thought Viera would move back to north London, to join the Gunners bitter rivals Spurs.
However, following the sale of Kolo Toure to Manchester City, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is in need of some experience and has now reportedly turned to former captain Viera.
The defensive midfielder spent nine years at Highbury between 1996 and 2005 before moving to Juventus where he spent just one season before moving to Inter.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp had been confident over securing Viera's services but admits things have 'gone very quiet' on the Viera deal.
