Wenger reveals defender snub

Arsene Wenger has told Johan Djourou he is still in his plans at Arsenal after blocking a move to Italian side Napoli.

The central defender has struggled for regular football with the Gunners and last made a start in the Premier back in April but Wenger still wants to keep him on board.
Napoli made a move for the Swiss international before the closure of the transfer window last week but Wenger told them no deal as he could still have an important part to play this season.
"I didn't let Djourou leave as I love him as a player, and he loves the club," Wenger said of the situation.
Djourou himself is happy to stay and fight for his place in the side and his versatility will also be a plus point for Wenger as they bid to end their silverware drought this season.
