Wenger targets French ace

Arsenal are reported to be closing in on a £2.5million swoop for St Etienne midfielder Blaise Matuidi.

According to reports, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has already held talks with the France Under-21 international in the hope of securing a deal for the player.

The highly-rated 22-year-old has earned rave reviews with his performances for St Etienne and Wenger, who has a reputation for snapping up talented youngsters, is keen to swoop.
