Arsenal will offer £6.4million plus the services of Marouane Chamakh for Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud, according to reports.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has already signed Lukas Podolski this summer but is keen to land Giroud and sees it as an ideal chance to get rid of Chamakh at the same time. The Moroccan has been a disappointment since arriving at the Emirates on a free transfer and reports have been growing for a while that Wenger will look to move him on. Chamakh was a success in France with Bordeaux before joining the Gunners and Wenger hopes by offering the striker as part of the deal, Montpellier will be happy to do business. Giroud scored 21 goals in 36 matches as Montpellier secured their first ever Ligue 1 title, but Arsenal would face competition for his signature as Aston Villa, Liverpool and Newcastle are also keen.
