Wenger wants Magpies star
Arsenal are showing a strong interest in Newcastle midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa ahead of the transfer window opening.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has put a new striker at the top of his wanted list but he also wants to bolster his midfield despite the return of Jack Wilshere and Ben Arfa is a target.
Wenger has already been heavily linked with Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye, but reports now claim that Ben Arfa is his number one target ahead of the January window.
The Magpies will do all they can to fight off any interest in the player, just like they did in the summer, but Alan Pardew has admitted that it is only a matter of time before he is forced to sell one of his star men.
Ben Arfa could therefore be sold but Newcastle will not let him go on the cheap and Wenger will have to dig deep to have any chance of securing a deal, something he may not be able to do if he needs another striker.
