Wenger weighs up defensive options

Mikael Silvestre is expected to deputise at left-back as Arsenal bid to extend their unbeaten run to eight matches at Sunderland.

Silvestre is favourite to start on the left side of defence at the Stadium of Light on Saturday with first-choice Gael Clichy out with a back injury and Kieran Gibbs sidelined by a bruised foot.
Croatian striker Eduardo is expected to lead the attack with Dutch star Robin van Persie ruled out for up to six weeks with ankle ligament damage and Nicklas Bendtner recovering from a long-term groin problem.
Denilson and Johan Djourou are also injured but winger Theo Walcott facing an outside chance of featuring after a month out with a knee injury as the Gunners bid for their seventh win in their last eight league games.
