Winger injury verdict
Arsenal, 11:27, September 9, 2010 , | 2 Comments
Theo Walcott will reportedly be out for six weeks with the ankle injury he suffered in action for England on Tuesday.
The Arsenal winger was taken to hospital after suffering the injury early on in the 3-1 win in Basle and has had scans to determine the extent of the damage.
The injury appeared serious at the time and now reports suggest the 21-year-old will be on the sidelines for up to six weeks with ligament damage.
This news is not as bad as some had feared but still represents a major blow to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, especially as Walcott had began the season so well, scoring four goals in just three games.
It looks like the youngster will miss at least five Premier League games, including next month's trip to Chelsea, and Arsenal's first three Champions League fixtures.
With Nicklas Bendtner and Robin van Persie also on the treatment table it will be left for summer signing Marouane Chamakh to fill the void up front while Carlos Vela is also expected to be given a chance to shine in the coming weeks.
