Paul Lambert will discuss his January transfer window plans with Randy Lerner when the owner arrives for the Manchester United game.
The US billionaire's trip to Birmingham next month will be his first to Villa Park since the NFL approved his $1billion (£620million) sale of the Cleveland Browns - and funds to spend on the Villa squad are likely to be near the top of the agenda. Lambert skirted around the issue when asked if would be prepared to ask Lerner for funds in the January transfer window. "The chairman has got the club at heart," he replied. "I have a good relationship with him, which is mutual, and he will come over in a couple of weeks' time. "At the end of the day, you just keep going. Has he been really supportive? Yes. Honestly. I have a good relationship with him." Lambert has overseen just one win from nine league matches since his appointment - which represents the club's worst start since they were relegated to Division Three 43 years ago. But the Scot revealed he is in regular contact with Lerner who, he insists, has been very supportive of his efforts.
