Home sweet home for Villa star
Darren Bent is confident Aston Villa will improve on their home form this season after their worst campaign of results at Villa Park.
Villa's record signing and England international striker is still ruing the poor performances the players put on for the Villa faithful throughout the course of last term as the side, then guided by former boss Alex McLeish, won just four of their 19 home games. Bent is determined that things will change though for the better under the leadership of Paul Lambert when the new Premier League season gets up and running, in just under three weeks' time. He told the club's website: "Last season our home form let us down and we need to improve on that this season. We want fans to wake up and think 'yes, it's match-day and we are off to Villa Park'. "I know last season was difficult for the fans. At times we weren't playing the best, but I'm sure this season will be better."
