Houllier moves to halt Young bids

Aston Villa, 10:27, November 26, 2010 , | 1 Comment

Villa boss Gerard Houllier has placed a mammoth £80million price tag on star Ashley Young to fend off Man United and Liverpool.

Young's long-term future remains uncertain and the England man has just 18 months left on his current deal.
That has alerted several top clubs, with United, Liverpool and Spurs all monitoring his situation at Villa Park, as they ponder making big-money bids in the January transfer window.
Young appears to be close to his best form once again and Houllier, in a desperate to bid to keep him and dissuade teams from making a move for the winger, has reportedly insisted he will only be available for £80million.
That figure is likely to put all comers off the former Watford man, who cost Villa £9.5million in 2007, but a player-plus-cash deal remains a possibility while reduced bids in the summer could also be accepted with Villa making sure they receive something for the 25-year-old if he does make it clear he wants a move away.
