Boss Paul Lambert is revamping Villa's scouting operations after bringing in his ex-Norwich staff Ian Culverhouse and Gary Karsa.

Culverhouse and Karsa were Lambert's assistant and head of football operations respectively at Carrow Road, having previously worked with him at Wycombe and Colchester. Prior to that the duo worked together at Barnet at Leyton Orient - where Karsa at one stage combined his role as head of youth development with coaching the youth side. But they are surplus to requirements at Norwich now after new boss Chris Hughton took coaches Colin Calderwood, Paul Trollope and scout Ewan Chester with him from St Andrew's. Lambert has been holding out for his trusted allies to join him since taking over at Villa at the start of June. It is understood that the trio will look after the scouting themselves, which spells the end for Glenn Roeder, Arthur Numan and Paul Montgomery. First team coach and reserve team boss Kevin MacDonald left the club by mutual consent, while Gordon Cowans has been kept on in an as yet unspecified role. Goalkeeping coach Terry Gennoe and fitness coach Adrian Lamb have also been retained.
