Midfielder targets new year return

Aston Villa, 15:30, November 18, 2008 ,

Wilfred Bouma is making good progress from his ankle injury and hopes to be back in the Aston Villa side by the early new year.

The Dutch international has been on the sidelines since suffering the horrific injury against Odense in the InterToto Cup back in July, but is making good progress and hopes to be back soon.
The defender admits he still has a long way to go but hopes to be back on the training ground by the end of the year with a view to returning to the first team early in 2009.
"I am on track. When will I play again? It will still take a few months - certainly not until the new year," Bouma revealed."I hope to be back in training this year, but I will not be ready for games."
