Aston Villa midfielder James Milner has said he would be happy to warm the bench if the club are successful.
The 22-year-old completed his £12million move to Villa Park from Newcastle in the summer but has found his opportunities restricted following Martin O'Neil's side bright start to the season.
Milner has yet to make a start in the Premier League this season and says despite being frustrated at his lack of opportunities he is happy for the team to be picked based on the players who are performing at the time.
"I haven't been frustrated at not starting games," said Milner.
"Don't get me wrong, every footballer wants to play but the lads have been brilliant all season and have been picking up some great results.
"What's important to me is being part of a massive football club like Aston Villa who are doing well on a number of fronts.
"There is competition for places and the key to that is 'if you play well you keep your place'. That's the way it should be. That's what has been happening.
"I'd be delighted if we won every game this season, sat on the bench and we were successful. There wouldn't be anyone happier than me. It's healthy to have competition in the squad."
"I do believe that is a realistic aim. We have a lot of quality in the squad, with a super mix of young talent and experienced heads too. That mix is important.
"Saying that, it's one thing me saying things but we should do our talking on the pitch.
"It's important not to get too carried away either. We have to take every game as it comes and build on the start we have made."
