Martin O'Neill is sweating on the fitness of Ashley Young ahead of Sunday's crunch visit of relegation-haunted Newcastle.
The PFA Young Player of the Year limped out of the second half of last weekend's 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough because of a calf strain but has returned to training and will be given every chance to prove his fitness.
Versatile defender and namesake, Luke, is considered a huge doubt because a problematic foot injury, so former Newcastle flyer James Milner could fill in as Villa chase the win that would see them finish fifth in the final table.
