O'Neill to offer Carew swap

Aston Villa, 15:11, June 17, 2009 ,

Aston Villa are ready to offer John Carew plus cash in an attempt to land Jermaine Jenas and David Bentley from Tottenham.

Neither Villa or Tottenham have yet to react to Bentley's comments that talks are taking place between the two clubs but it does seem as though Martin O'Neill is definitely keen on signing the midfielder.
The Villa boss also sees Jenas as the ideal replacement for Gareth Barry and is trying to sort out a deal that will get both players at Villa Park in time for the new season.
O'Neill could offer Carew as part of the deal after Tottenham expressed an interest in the Norwegian striker, but he will not consider letting Ashley Young move to White Hart Lane.
Spurs would do business if Young was thrown in but O'Neill wants to keep the flying winger at Villa Park.
