Striker Nathan Delfouneso has handed Paul Lambert a boost by making himself fit and available for Saturday's visit of Everton.
The young hitman missed last Saturday's opening day defeat at West Ham with a thigh injury which left Lambert fielding Darren Bent as a lone striker and Andreas Wiemann came off the bench at Upton Park in the second half. However, Delfouneso's fitness will provide the manager with another attacking option as Gabriel Agbonlahor remains sidelined because of a knee injury. Defender Chris Herd is another who will be included in the squad for the Villa Park clash after missing out last weekend, but defender Richard Dunne and winger Marc Albrighton are still sidelined because of respective groin and foot problems, while youngster Samir Carruthers has an ankle problem. Meanwhile, summer arrival Brett Holman is relishing the prospect of lining up for his home debut against the Toffees. He told AVTV: "You play away and the atmosphere is great but to put on the home jersey and play in front of the home crowd is the ultimate feeling as a footballer. "I have only seen some games on television of Villa Park on a matchday so I can only imagine the atmosphere of being out there and playing for these fans. "It will be a great buzz to be out there on Saturday. Hopefully we can give the fans something to cheer about and their first victory."
