Villa ace in Barca sights

Aston Villa, 12:57, June 20, 2009 ,

Aston Villa face a huge battle to keep hold of Ashley Young as Barcelona are being linked with a £25million move.

Young was in impressive form for Villa last season and his form has not gone unnoticed in Spain where Barca boss Pep Guardiola has been keeping tabs on him.
Villa boss Martin O'Neill has made it clear he wants to keep hold of Young but it remains to be seen if he will be able to fight off any interest from the European champions.
Barca could even offer Villa target Aleksandr Hleb as part of the deal and it only seems to be a matter of time before the Catalan giants make their move.
A source close to Barca has been quoted as saying: "Young has been impressive all last year with Villa and at times with England. He finished the season well and is a player Guardiola likes.
"He has been following him for a while and we hope that he will want to come to a club as big as Barca and move to Spain. There has been no contact yet but the club are firming up their plans at the moment."
