Villa face striker deal woe
West Ham have reportedly jumped ahead of Aston Villa for Tottenham's out of favour striker Robbie Keane and may land him on loan.
The Hammers are ready to offer the Republic of Ireland international a loan deal until the end of the current season followed by a three-year contract if he is successful in helping them avoid the dreaded drop.
The news follows on from earlier reports in which it looked like a tug-o-war was set to develop between Villa and rivals Birmingham for the much-travelled 30-year-old striker.
However the Hammers, Keane's former club Wolves and Everton are all vying for the player's signature when the New Year window opens in 11 days' time.
