Holland international Ron Vlaar has expressed his excitement at the prospect of joining Aston Villa after talks with boss Paul Lambert.
The 27-year-old spoke with Lambert over the weekend about a move from Feyenoord, and was impressed by the Scot's vision as he looks to revitalise the Midlands club following his own switch from Norwich this summer.
Lambert has already added Brett Holman, Matthew Lowton and Karim El Ahmadi to his squad in recent weeks, but he is known to be in the market for a number of other players including Dutch defender, who has won nine caps.
Vlaar told De Telegraaf newspaper: "I was on Sunday in Birmingham to have talks with Paul Lambert and left with a very positive impression.
"Joining Aston Villa would be a dream come true. I look forward to the Premier League but I will miss Feyenoord.
"I feel at home at De Kuip and although both me personally and the club have had a lot of ups and downs, we have maintained a good relationship. The stadium, the fans, my team-mates and staff...if the deal goes through I will miss them."
