It is understood that veteran striker Marlon Harewood has been released from his trial at Sheffield Wednesday to join rivals Barnsley.
Reports from social networking sites and Radio Sheffield are suggesting that Harewood will join Barnsley on trial after an unsuccessful stint with Sheffield Wednesday. The 32-year-old had been trying to earn a contract with the Owls for the past couple of weeks, but it now looks as if the ex-Aston Villa forward is heading to Oakwell. This would be Harewood's second spell with the club as he spent three months on loan with Barnsley last year, scoring four times in ten appearances. Since then he has played for Chinese outfit Guangzhou R&F and had a short spell with Nottingham Forest last season.
Radio Sheffield reporter Paul Walker tweeted: "Hearing that Marlon Harewood will train with Barnsley from Monday."
