Mixed news for Tykes
Barnsley,
Last updated:
Barnsley winger Jim O'Brien has agreed a new two-year contract at Oakwell but midfielder Jacob Butterfield still looks set to leave the club.
O'Brien, 24, joined the Tykes from SPL side Motherwell two years ago but struggled with groin problems last term.
Manager Keith Hill told the club's official website: "Jim has agreed to an extension to his deal. But for injury last season he would have been outstanding.
"I'm really excited about the prospect of working with him for at least another two seasons."
Butterfield, 21, is also out of contract and has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Reading and Newcastle thought to be among his admirers.
Hill added: "Jacob is exercising his rights and his options - which any footballer at this time of the year will do."
