Shock Davey axe claims

Barnsley, 17:19, August 27, 2008

Barnsley have reportedly warned boss Simon Davey he has just three games to save his job after a poor start to the new season.

The Mirror claims Tykes owner Patrick Cryne has handed an ultimatum to Davey following a run of four straight defeats in the Championship and Carling Cup this term.

Last season's FA Cup semi-finalists currently sit at the bottom of the table after three league outings, but it seems Davey could be axed if things do not improve in the next month.

Despite the possibility of being sacked hanging over him, Davey is confident he can turn things around.

He said: "We are a better team this season and someone will be on the end of a hammering soon."
