Blues striker admission

Alex McLeish has revealed that he considered making a move for Bobby Zamora, but never made an official bid for the Fulham striker.

Birmingham brought in three players on Tuesday's deadline day - Alexander Hleb, Jean Beausejour and Martin Jiranek - but McLeish also had feelers out elsewhere.
The Blues boss was keen to add England international Zamora to his ranks, but Fulham were reluctant to part with their frontman, who was the subject of bids from three clubs.
He told the Birmingham Mail: "I never saw the striker there that I really craved - unless I was going to be paying 10, 12 million.
"I never went back in for Bobby officially.
"We sounded out Fulham privately but we never made an issue of it because I had read Mark Hughes comments about him being a focal point for Fulham and that he had started the season great. I thought there was absolutely no chance, so it didn't go any further."
