Boss hopes for keeper deal

Birmingham City, 10:50, February 22, 2010

Birmingham boss Alex McLeish is hopeful goalkeeper Maik Taylor will stick with the club for another season.

The veteran shot-stopper has voiced his frustration at lack of opportunities for the Blues this season, with on-loan Joe Hart standing in his way of a starting place at St Andrews'.
Birmingham vice-chairman Peter Pannu has already confirmed the club are hopeful Manchester City will allow Hart to remain with the Blues for another season but McLeish has confirmed he would like Taylor to agree a new deal.
He said: "We haven't sat down to speak yet, but I don't see any reason why not, Maik is at a cracking level of fitness for a man of his age.
"He's a dedicated professional and we'll still need three goalkeepers, so I don't see why we can't agree something with Maik Taylor for another year."
