Chairman wants further deals
Birmingham City, 13:51, July 30, 2010 ,
Birmingham chairman Carsen Yeung says Alex McLeish is hoping to sign at least three more players this summer.
Blues have so far just added goalkeeper Ben Foster and striker Nikola Zigic to the St Andrew's ranks ahead of the new Premier League season but McLeish remains active in the transfer market and is keen to further strengthen.
Yeung was delighted with Birmingham's better-than-expected ninth-place finish last term but says he wants them to improve upon that this season and revealed he wants to see more arrivals at the club ahead of the new campaign.
"Last season, you have to respect what we did," Yeung told the Birmingham Mail. "But in the coming season, we want to be doing even better.
"Now we have bought a few players - Foster, Zigic - and we would also like to increase our options at striker."
He added: "Midfield also, and maybe ar left-back. I would like a right-back, also, for my target team."
Birmingham have been linked with a whole host of players in recent weeks, including Crystal Palace full-back Nathaniel Clyne, AZ Alkmaar striker Moussa Dembele, Liverpool winger Ryan Babel, former Arsenal midfielder Aleksandr Hleb, Eidur Gudjohnsen and Humberto Suazo.
