Birmingham City, 15:35, May 28, 2009 ,

Alex McLeish has indicated that a deal for Djimi Traore is close and the defender says he is keen to sign permanently for Birmingham.

The former Liverpool defender impressed whilst on loan at St Andrews this season and, with injuries to Liam Ridgewell and David Murphy, and the release of Radhi Jaidi, McLeish is keen to bolster his defensive ranks.
The Blues boss admited to the Birmingham Mail: "Our numbers are depleted and it makes sense to try to come to an agreement with Djimi."
Meanwhile Traore, who is out of contract at Portsmouth in the summer, says has had offers from several other clubs but wants to play Premier League football with Blues.
The 29-year-old stated: "The discussions between my agent and the club are still going on and we are looking for the right deal.
"Yes, I'm keen to sign. I've had a few offers but my main priority is just Birmingham."
