Experience the key to survival - Bowyer
Latest news update:
Lee Bowyer insists he has nothing to prove and is merely focused on keeping Birmingham in the Premier League this coming season.
The 32-year-old combative midfielder was signed on a permanent basis late last week after a successful loan stint in the second half of last season in which time he helped the Blues secure automatic promotion to the top flight. And, after penning a two-year deal at St Andrews, Bowyer insists he has the experience required to keep the Blues out of the relegation mire next term.
"Personally, I don't need to prove anything. I've played in the Premier League for 13 years now. I don't think I need to prove anything," Bowyer said.
"I just want to bring experience to Birmingham. That's why I've come here, to help them stay in the Premier League. That would be as much an achievement for me as all the other years I've been playing.
"It's exciting, isn't it? Everybody wants to play at the highest level possible. I know I do. There are a lot of players here with that Premier League experience. Everybody you speak to wants to be in the Premier League.
"There are going to be some tough times, but they're the times you need to stay together."
