Birmingham manager Alex McLeish says he is upset to have lost Radhi Jaidi after the defender was ruled out for three games.
The Tunisian picked up a thigh injury whilst on international duty and will leave Birmingham short of options at the back, with Stephen Kelly three weeks away from returning.
McLeish was unable to say how Jaidi picked up the injury but is hopeful that Martin Taylor could fill in for the former Bolton man in his absence.
"Whether he's been unlucky, whether it was over-commitment in training, whether it was a heavy training session he didn't need I don't know," McLeish told the Birmingham Mail.
"I can't really second guess what the Tunisians were doing in training. I'd like to think that it wasn't excessive training that did this to him.
"He's got a grade one tear, and he's going to miss the next three games for us, which is a blow.
"He's been excellent. He's come back into the side and played three stormers.
"Tiny [Martin Taylor] returns. He started the season very solidly and if he reproduces those kind of performances we shouldn't miss Jaidi too much."
