Midfielder features in defeat

Barry Ferguson made his Birmingham debut as Alex McLeish's side were beaten 2-0 by German outfit Stuttgart in a pre-season friendly.
The midfielder was a second-half replacement for Lee Carsley in Austria as Blues slipped to the defeat following late goals from Elson and Julian Schieber for the Bundesliga side.
Boss McLeish made full use of his squad in the warm-up game as he also handed a debut in the second half to on-loan goalkeeper Joe Hart while there were also outings for James McFadden, Gary McSheffrey, Stephen Carr, Cameron Jerome and Kevin Phillips.
Blues will be hoping for their first win of the summer when they take on Augsburg in their next warm-up game on Thursday.
