Midfielder up for grabs

Birmingham City, 13:28, February 6, 2009 ,

Birmingham have told midfielder Mehdi Nafti he will be free to leave the club on loan if any teams come in for him.

From the start of next week, clubs outside of the Premiership can start to utilise the loan market and Blues boss Alex McLeish says the midfielder is free to move on if a rival club come in.
Nafti is struggling for regular action at St Andrews this season and McLeish says he is happy for the player to move on to get some regular games under his belt.
"He said he needs to play and I totally understand that," McLeish told Birmingham's website. "He's a very experienced holding midfielder, but we've got other players vying for the position so it's difficult to play them all.
"Mehdi has assured me he'll be giving everything in training and he will be available if I need him."
