Russian striker linked

Birmingham City are being linked with a January swoop for Tottenham's out-of-favour striker Roman Pavlyuchenko.

The Russian is keen to get a move away from White Hart Lane as he struggles for first-team action and Birmingham could offer him the chance to stay in the Premier League.

Blues boss Alex McLeish will be armed with a large transfer kitty when the transfer window opens following the takeover involving Carson Yeung and a chunk of it could go on Pavlyuchenko.

The striker cost Spurs £14million when he arrived from Spartak Moscow but he would be available for much less than that after struggling to make an impact at White Hart Lane.
